Who We Are

Meet our dedicated board members and volunteers.

SADIE HUNTLEY

SECRETARY & VP

I grew up in the area and have three kids in Neah-Kah-Nie School District. I work as the Family Resource Coordinator at Nehalem Elementary School. I love how our community is always so supportive and caring. When not working, I enjoy exploring outside with my children and my dog.

MARK MCLAUGHLIN

TREASURER

Growing up on the North Coast, I always new this was a special place. After graduating law school and exploring other countries, I realized that nowhere is quite as unique as this coastline. I am thrilled to be back teaching high school science, math, and Spanish at my alma mater while coaching cross-country and the National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB) team. In my free time, you'll find me in the ocean.

ROSE HUCEK

DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

In 2016, I established the Backpack Program, providing weekly food to students in need through the two elementary schools in Neah-Kah-Nie School District. I love collaborating with local organizations, individuals and businesses. I have fun with my two daughters, husband and plethora of pets in Mohler.

MARGARET WHITING

BOARD MEMBER

I have loved working with students and families at Neah-Kah-Nie High School over the last 5 years and am now the new School Counselor, focusing on students' social emotional health and wellbeing. I also coordinate the ASPIRE mentor program, matching community members with students to help them plan and prepare for life after high school. I love exploring the coast with my husband and two dogs.

RUBY HUCEK MARTEENY

STUDENT AMBASSADOR

I'm a sixth grader who's been eager to start an organization since first grade. I'm excited to help organize donations and package them in creative ways for kids. I'm looking forward to recruiting classmates to earn community service hours with Coast Kids. In my spare time, I'm preparing to become the first female president of the United States!

KATE ROMANOV

PRESIDENT & DIRECTOR

I'm a former elementary school teacher with a Masters in Health & Wellness Education and a passion for social emotional learning (SEL). Through Coast Kids, I'm excited to conduct community needs assessments, collaborate with diverse stakeholders and implement kid-focused action plans. When not working, I'm out adventuring with my pup, Crouton!
